What are the benefits of career transition coaching?

What are the benefits of career transition coaching?

The career transition program helps clients find the core/key/critical success actions for successful career transition. These tell clients the following:

  • What you should know that you should do right away
  • What you should know that you should never do (or stop doing)
  • What you need to do quickly but aren’t prepared to do (and how to build the capacity to do these things).

Career transition coaching participants are able to more quickly assess workplace and job search situations. The ability to quickly assess situations leads to better decision making and greater control of the career planning and development process. Career transition coaching moves clients to action faster and helps them take effective advantage of opportunities.

Who will benefit most from the Career Transition Coaching Group?
The career transition coaching group is geared towards professionals that are engaged in, or soon to be engaged in a job search or career transition. These professionals may fall in one or more of the following categories:

  1. New college graduates and entry level professionals who want to maximize their initial placement. These coaching clients are interested in connecting with the best possible opportunity. Such opportunities maximize the client’s acquired skills, education and experience and offer optimal compensation and career possibilities.
  2. Outplacement clients who have been downsized or outsourced and want to maximize their outplacement dollars and effort.
  3. Individuals who want to ensure that they are on the short list for professional opportunities within the firm where they currently work.
  4. Professionals who want to increase the opportunities within their industry, but not necessarily their current firm.
  5. Mid-career professionals who desire a change whether the change is in the type of work, industry or to qualify for higher level opportunities that have been off limits.
  6. Professionals who are looking to start a different career and transition from their current work. These include transitions to/from the non-profit sector or academia as well as transitions to business ownership or other entrepreneurial venture.
  7. Professionals who have been successful in their career but want additional career planning and development skills to prepare for higher level opportunities.

The career transition coaching group emphasizes two specific skill areas:

  • Career search skills
  • Career planning and development skills

The career transition coaching program covers:

  1. Bio/Resume/Portfolio development
  2. The online job search
  3. Industry and job focus knowledge
  4. Maximizing your current position
  5. Relationships and networking
  6. Personal strategies based on job level, job target, goals and objectives
  7. Jumpstarting your job search: creating a job search and career planning system
  8. Negotiation: offers, outplacement, compensation packages
  9. Transition issues
  10. Career planning and development
  11. Implementation Strategies

    How Does Group Coaching Work?
Group coaching via teleconference is convenient, affordable, and independent of the geographic location of the participants and the coach. You can call from anywhere, and return to your busy schedule immediately after the one-hour call. There are no travel expenses.

The leadership coaching group employs a workshop format in a semi-monthly 60-minute interactive telephone conference call. In general, leadership coaching groups are comprised of a cohesive group of people in a specific profession, company, industry or association. This new group is offered for female leaders in science, mathematics, engineering and technology. During a typical meeting you will receive insight, information, feedback, coaching, resources, tips, tools, techniques and valuable new ideas. Group coaching is interactive and dynamic, linking six to ten participants--in corporations, organizations, and/or associations who are geographically dispersed.

Participants in the group benefit from the experience, insights, coaching approach and facilitation of the coach, and also receive the following benefits (for themselves and their organizations) from other participants:

    • When working as a coaching group, participants can rapidly share their individual/team best practices, for mutual benefit. As a result, great ideas are quickly integrated and distributed world-wide.
    • When working as a coaching group, participants can manage change quickly and respond without delay. As a result, change happens more smoothly and with less chaos.
    • When working as a coaching group, company and organizational initiatives are reached more easily. As a result, the bottom line is positively impacted.
    • When working as a coaching group, many years of combined wisdom from the participants accelerate the transfer of knowledge. As a result, each participant and her company reach their goals faster.

What Do We Focus On In The Group?

The specific topics to be addressed will be selected and prioritized by consensus of the group participants.  The following serves as a sampling, and each lends itself to much deeper learning and discussion—beyond a single meeting:

    • Leadership Styles--the right choices for you and your team
    • Leadership Skills--discussion of the top five
    • Leading in the Four-Generation Workplace
    • Coaching Skills and Competencies--practical applications to enhanced leadership
    • Work-Life Balance--earn more/work less/reduce stress
    • Behavioral styles--a quick and easy assessment
    • Effective communication and negotiation skills
    • Goal setting--for you and your teams

In consideration of your busy schedules any "assignments" between meetings will involve your normal professional activities, with the addition of selected "experiments", conversations, heightened observations, and noting any issues or difficulties to be discussed at our next meeting. Additional articles for further learning and application will also be provided. Each meeting will involve: checking in; topic of the day; shared wisdom and coaching; commitments to action.
